InternetWeek: HP Reports Strong Performance Figures For Linux-Based Oracle Clusters

Hewlett-Packard Co. on Monday disclosed performance-test figures based on widely used "TPC" metrics that could add support to the view of Linux as an enterprise-ready OS.

Enterprises should interpret the results -- reflecting performance of the Oracle database -- with caution, however, because it's easy to apply overly optimistic interpretations of the data, and at times such tests have been criticized for more closely reflecting vendor's marketing requirements than actual user-deployment scenarios.
