A house-sized supercomputer at the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland can perform 12 trillion operations simultaneously.

RICHLAND - It's as big as a four-bedroom house, can do 12 trillion things at once and is very popular.

The nation's fastest nonmilitary supercomputer started operating at full power this week at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory.

Worldwide, just four supercomputers are faster, and those are used by the U.S. military.
