NewsFactor: Intel Chips Dominate Top500 Supercomputer List

The combined speed of all systems on the Top500 list was 528 teraflops, or trillions of calculations, per second -- compared to 375 Tflop/s six months ago.

Commodity machines and processors -- such as Intel's (Nasdaq: INTC) Xeon and AMD's (NYSE: AMD) Opteron -- are becoming fixtures in high-performance computing.
