    Minneapolis, Minn.-March 31 , 2003-Sistina Software, the premier storage infrastructure software company delivering data-sharing solutions for enterprise and technical computing customers, today announced that T-Systems GEI GmbH has chosen Sistina Global File SystemT (GFS) as a cornerstone of its data center. T-Systems GEI GmbH is a T-Systems division within Deutsche Telekom AG, Europe's largest telecommunications company and a Fortune Global 100 company. T-Systems GEI GmbH selected Sistina GFS for use in its production environment, where application software for the public service, traffic and telecommunications services is developed-ultimately providing comprehensive services for Deutsche Telekom's key corporate customers.

    T-Systems GEI selected ATIX GmbH, a German storage area network (SAN) integrator focused on application-clustering solutions for the financial, scientific computing and education sectors, to assist with the implementation of the Sistina GFS solution at T-Systems GEI. Faced with the arduous task of consolidating and managing massive amounts of data, ATIX GmbH and T-Systems GEI implemented a consolidated storage architecture running on the Red Hat Linux platform. The Sistina GFS data-sharing solution provided the fundamental capabilities to enable this consolidation that delivers increased performance and enhanced productivity to the development team. Due to the performance, scalability and affordability of the Linux operating system, T-Systems GEI has increasingly been implementing Linux throughout their data center for enterprise deployments.

    "Sistina GFS provides T-Systems GEI with enterprise-class storage management functionality, as well as extremely impressive price/performance benefits," said Marcus Ketzer, the T-Systems' lead IT professional for the project. "When we made the decision to implement a clustered storage architecture, we realized that we needed a file system capable of delivering concurrent read and write capabilities in order to achieve better performance. Of all the options available, we found that Sistina GFS was the proven, stable data-sharing technology we needed, providing unmatched performance, speed and shared read-write storage capabilities."

    Specializing in Linux storage and clustering solutions for enterprise applications, ATIX works closely with partners such as Sistina and Hewlett-Packard to deliver best-of-breed clustered storage solutions. ATIX has been experiencing a strong demand for Sistina GFS technology from various industries throughout Europe including financial institutions, Internet service providers and media companies.

    Recognized as the de facto cluster file system on Linux, Sistina GFS is a highly stable solution for enterprise users requiring reliable access to data. In addition to Deutsche Telekom, Sistina GFS technology is in use at multiple telecommunications, financial and manufacturing industries worldwide, to consolidate existing server and storage resources into a single management domain, essentially serving as the "central nervous system" in a SAN.

    In their production environment, T-Systems GEI is running Sistina GFS on Hewlett-Packard Intel-based servers connected via a Fibre Channel SAN to Compaq StorageWorks Raid Array 8000 FC storage. These servers now provide scalable services such as NFS, Samba, HTTP and X-Windows, in addition to hosting a configuration management tool called "Telelogic CM Synergy."
