    Quad AMD Operton's in 1U Space - Dense 64-Bit Computing

    SAN JOSE APRIL 22, 2003-ASD Allied Systems Design, Inc. today introduced the Total Density “W” with 4 AMD Opteron(tm) processors in a 1U space. ASD will leverage the world's first 64-bit processor compatible with the industry-standard x86 architecture and the highest performing 2-way and 4-way processor for servers to its offerings.

    The AMD Opteron processor for servers and workstations, which extends the x86 instruction set architecture (ISA) to 64-bit computing for the first time, is also the first processor in a new class of computing called AMD64. AMD64 directly follows the evolutionary path of the industry-standard x86 ISA, allowing development of a unified 64-bit computing infrastructure fully compatible with the pervasive x86 architecture. The AMD Opteron processor helps eliminate barriers to 64-bit computing by simplifying the transition between current and future generations of software.

    ASD President, Lou Rodriguez said, “According to industry-standard benchmarks, the AMD Opteron processor is the highest performing 2P and 4P server processor.” In TPC-C benchmark tests, considered among the most important for servers, the AMD Opteron processor achieved performance up to 14% greater than competing 32-bit server processors. “We will lead with the highest density of these processors with our Patent Pending and extremely reliable Total Density W product line.”, said Rodriguez. “Our advantages continue with No Risk purchase (using standard name brand motherboards), modularity, and the most versatile high density server on the market.” “Adhering to standards enables us to continue to provide blade like density with leading edge technology, and the ability to incrementally build the cluster by placing the “W” into existing or new standard racks.” “We have leveraged remote monitoring and control via console over IP with this implementation as well.” ASD’s newest offering once again clearly makes the Total Density “W” the 1U need.
