SGI and Purple Insight agree on MineSet Data Mining And Real-Time 3d Visualisation Software
    Monday November 03 2003 @ 08:00AM EST

London, UK – SGI and Purple Insight today announced that Purple Insight has licensed development, support and distribution rights for MineSet, the real-time, 3D visual mining software from SGI. Introduced by SGI in 1999, MineSet is a suite of powerful yet easy-to-use software tools for data mining and visualisation. It distills complex information into accessible and easily understood graphics to help users quickly identify trends and patterns.

Purple Insight demonstrates the keen focus and dedicated resources to successfully continue to extend the advanced capabilities of MineSet software for data mining and visualisation. Potential customers, as well as the existing installed base that established MineSet as an SGI product, will benefit from Purple Insight’s aggressive roadmap for a robust and feature-rich product.

“We are delighted that Purple Insight will be driving the future of MineSet development,” said Jan Silverman, senior vice president, strategic technology initiatives, SGI. “Purple Insight has the right combination of development and sales expertise to further position MineSet as the premiere real-time data analysis and visualisation tool.”

“Purple Insight and SGI share the same vision of the power of visualisation,” said Gareth Lane, chief executive officer for Purple Insight. “MineSet has unique visualisation capabilities that make business-critical information accessible and easily understood. It delivers unparalleled value and insight, making it the most effective business analysis tool available today.”

    Visual Mining with MineSet:

Specially designed to handle large quantities of data, MineSet features interactive tools for searching, classifying, filtering and drilling down models. Its real power comes from its ability to support real-time “what if” analysis-users can adjust values or ranges and immediately see the effects. Its visualisation capabilities are so unique that it’s often referred to as visual mining software. Since its introduction to market, MineSet has been used by many organisations for a wide range of applications, such as fraud and money laundering detection, network intrusion detection, drug discovery research, customer profiling and oil and gas exploration. MineSet runs on Linux, IRIX and Windows operating systems and is available for shipment from Purple Insight in October.
