Cepoint’s R-STOR, 3TB Linux Enterprise Raid System ideal for High Perfomance Storage Cluster
    Thursday April 08 2004 @ 01:00PM EDT

Nashua, NH. Cepoint Networks 3TB 12-bay R-STOR RAID Server system packed in a compact 2U rackmount enclosure is a power horse storage server ideal for applications in a cluster or Storage Area Networking (SAN) environment. Equipped with an a Fibre-Channel or iSCSI port, RA212 delivers more punch and high performance at far less price than similar systems from big players such as EMC, Network Appliace and IBM. Cepoint began shipping its 3TB and 4TB, Fault-Tolerant R-Stor RAID systems in December 2003. For quite some time now, IT managers and systems administrators have worried about compatibility issues of any new system with their current infrastructures and, any future growth requirements. Although RA212 is ideal for Cluster and SAN environments, Cepoint Networks' R-STOR Plug-and-Play shared array storage characteristics and its Operating System independence, makes this RAID system totally transparent in most operating environments. Cepoint's R-STOR is one of the few Enterprise RAID storage system that easily supports multiple operating systems such as; SuSE Enterprise Linux, MandrakeSoft, Red Hat Linux 6.2 or later, HP-UX 11.0 or later, IBM AIX 4.3.3 or later, Microsoft Windows 2000 / NT4.0/XP/Me, 95/98, Apple Mac OS 8.0 or later, UnixWare 7.1.1, SCO Open Server 5.0.5, SunSoft Solaris 7, making the system the most adaptable storage solutions for most enterprise computing, telephony and VoIP applications in Linux, or Unix environments. RA-212 is configurable with up to 3TB storage capacity, using 12 x 250GB Serial-ATA hard drives, and has option of SCSI, or dual 2GB/s Fibre-Channel Host interface with up to 400MB/s data rate, and support for FC-AL (Fibre Channel Arbitrated Loop), point-to-point, switched fabric topology. The server version has iSCSI host interface option as well.

For IT managers interested in disk-to-disk storage or disk-to-tape storage back-up implementation is simple, since SCSI-FCP (SCSI-Fibre Channel), IP, and FC-Tape protocols are supported.

Redundant, hot-swappable power supplies and fault-tolerant features suitable for clustering in enterprise computing environment are included. The system complements the company’s other high availability RAID storage, NAS, SAN, SCSI RAID servers, SATA and Fibre Channel RAID solutions for Real-Time data access, audio/video online streaming, data storage widely used in telephony and telecommunications enterprise applications. Model RA-212 is crafted with excellent cooling systems, dual hot-swappable (600 watts x 2 ) redundant power supplies, and RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 10, 50 and JBOD. Its blazing performance and reliability makes it excellent for wide range of enterprise computing such as data warehousing and call center management applications where 24 x 7 mission-critical operations is important. Multiple RA-212 can be daisy chained to 60TB. Pricing for 3TB FC-SATA version starts from under $9,000 and is now shipping.

Cepoint Networks, LLC is a systems integration and consulting firm specializing in high availability storage and applied computing products and services for enterprise applications, telephony and telecommunications industry, Government, utilities and industrial markets. The Company's other products and services include turnkey rack mount fault-tolerant cluster servers for mission-critical applications and high performance computing, telephony systems for voice processing, video/audio conferencing, real-time large scale surveillance, message logging and telecasting and, rugged portable lunch box workstations for field applications, network engineers and technicians. 1U, 2U, 3U and 4U Fail-Resilient Raid storage, SAN, NAS and servers for audio and video data archives or real-time video/data streaming and VoIP, custom hardware and software integration.
