    Scalable Informatics Joins with Fixstars to Create All-in-One Cell PXCAB, NVIDIA Tesla, & Massive Storage System

    CANTON, Michigan - 25 March 2009 - Scalable Informatics, provider of custom HPC systems, solutions, and services has partnered with Fixstars Solutions for the inclusion of the Fixstars GA-180 (IBM PXCAB) with the Pegasus-GPU NVIDIA Tesla™-powered high performance workstations.

    The Pegasus series workstation coupled with the NVIDIA Tesla™ platform provides unrivaled computing power for GPU-based application acceleration.

    The Pegasus-GPU is now available with both an NVIDIA Tesla and IBM PXCAB PCIe cards, combining the best of both accelerated computing technologies into a single deskside workstation — industry leading NVIDIA GPU + IBM PowerXCell 8i in one box.

    Kai Staats, COO Fixstars Solutions states, "Dr. Landman and his team have been working on accelerated computing systems for years. After Scalable Informatics expanded the functions of their high capacity, high performance workstations with heterogeneous accelerated processing using GPUs, adding high performance, Cell-based processing to this line was a natural extension. We are excited by this collaborative effort as it moves to satisfy a growing demand for a multi-core solution which implements a unified OpenCL code base."

    The Pegasus-GPU+Cell is the first-to-market product offering both GPU and Cell technology in a single box. Combining up to 3 accelerator systems, with a high performance computing substrate featuring up to 16 processor cores, up to 256 GB of RAM, and up to 40x 2.5 inch SATA/SAS drives. This deskside system provides tremendous computational and I/O power tightly coupled to accelerated computing with GPUs and Cell processors.

    Developers may use the Pegasus-GPU+Cell system to leverage the power of both the GPU and Cell processors, providing a powerful heterogeneous acceleration platform. End-users can leverage GPU and/or Cell optimized applications, as well as adapting their existing applications for acceleration.
