New Orleans, LA, Nov 16, 2010 - Scalable Informatics, Inc., a provider of innovative high performance storage and computing solutions, today announced the immediately availability and first customer installation of the siCluster™ NAS scale-out Network Attached Storage product (http://scalableinformatics.com/sicluster).
Scalable Informatics siCluster NAS provide reliable, scalable, and manageable storage capabilities that enable users to scale capacity rapidly and cost effectively, with no downtime. Built atop Scalable Informatics cost effective Delta-V™ storage platform and leveraging the open source GlusterFS™safa file system, siCluster NAS sets new standards for affordable, reliable, and manageable NAS.
"Scalable Informatics is excited to have delivered the first siCluster NAS unit to a government customer to provide scale-out NAS storage for their computing infrastructure," said Dr. Joseph Landman, CEO of Scalable Informatics. "The system design allows for simple management and expansion of capacity and bandwidth as the end users require. End users can connect clients to siCluster NAS using NFS, CIFS, and GlusterFS clients."
Configuration of siCluster NAS is as simple as configuring the external network addresses and the storage volumes. CIFS configuration may require additional steps to interface with an Active Directory™ or similar infrastructure for authentication.
With capacities starting at 10TB and moving rapidly to the many Petabyte region, siCluster NAS scales down and up in capacity as needed, while maintaining excellent economics. Each Delta-V storage node adds up to 32TB usable capacity, and 800MB/s bandwidth. A 96TB usable capacity system has a list price under $1,000 USD per Terabyte. This system configuration provides 6x 10GbE or QDR InfiniBand® ports, and 12x 1GbE ports. Optional top of rack 10GbE or InfiniBand switches are available.
"We are excited to see GlusterFS integrated with a platform as strong as siCluster NAS," said Jack O'Brien, vice president of marketing for Gluster. "Scalable Informatics has a proven track record of delivering high quality commercial storage solutions to a market clearly demanding scale-out storage to meet today's needs. We look forward to working further with the Scalable Informatics team in support of this tremendous growth opportunity."
siCluster NAS is immediately available from Scalable Informatics and its resellers.

Gluster delivers an open storage software platform focused on simplifying the task of storing and managing the explosive growth of unstructured data. Our scale-out storage platform runs on commodity hardware scaling out in building block fashion from a few terabytes to multiple petabytes to meet the most demanding capacity and performance needs at a fraction of the cost of traditional systems. Gluster Storage Platform uses a unified global namespace to virtualize disk and memory resources into a single shared pool that is centrally managed. Our scalable NAS solutions address the needs of traditional data centers, shared storage for virtual server environments, and both public and private storage clouds. Gluster is used by enterprises in a wide range of industries, including digital media delivery, healthcare, internet, energy, and biotech. Gluster is privately-held and headquartered in Milpitas, California. More information can be found at www.gluster.com.
