Austin, TX — November 17, 2008 — Interactive Supercomputing has once again been recognized in the annual HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Awards, presented at the 2008 International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage and Analysis (SC08), in Austin, Texas. Interactive Supercomputing’s Star-P product won the Readers’ Choice Award for Best HPC Software Product or Technology.
The prestigious HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Awards are determined through online polling of the global HPCwire audience, along with a rigorous selection process involving HPCwire editors and industry luminaries. The awards are an annual feature of the publication, representing prestigious recognition from the HPC community and are revealed each year to kick off the Supercomputing (SC) conference.
“This year’s recognition is especially gratifying because it validates that we are the platform of choice time and again for technical computing users who need to work more productively and affordably with HPC systems,” said Bill Blake, President & CEO of Interactive Supercomputing. “We look forward to the feedback HPCwire gathers each year and are always honored to be among an elite group of HPC colleagues who share our vision to bring the benefits of HPC to an increasingly broader community of analysts, scientists and engineers.”
Star-P delivers interactive parallel computing power to the desktop. It enables faster prototyping and problem solving across a range of biomedical - as well as financial, scientific, and engineering - applications. Star-P eliminates the need to re-program applications to run on an HPC server for parallel processing using complex languages such as C, FORTRAN and MPI (message passing interface) which would otherwise require arcane programming knowledge and months to complete.
"Every year, our readers determine which HPC-related companies, product and technologies are making the biggest impact within the HPC community,” said Diane Lieberman, publisher of HPCwire. "The HPCwire Readers’ and Editors’ Choice Awards send a strong message to the recipients that those in the global HPC community recognize their work, and consider their efforts meritorious. Our congratulations go out to Interactive Supercomputing and the rest of the winners.”
This is the third year in a row that Star-P has won an HPCwire award. In 2007 Star-P won the award for Best Price/Performance in the High Performance Computing (HPC) Software category and in 2006 won the HPCwire Editors’ Choice Award for Most Significant New HPC Software Product.

About Interactive Supercomputing
Interactive Supercomputing (ISC) launched in 2004 to commercialize Star-P, an interactive parallel computing platform. With automatic parallelization and interactive execution of existing desktop simulation applications, Star-P merges two previously distinct environments - desktop computers and high performance servers - into one. Based in Waltham, Mass., the privately held company markets Star-P for a range of biomedical, financial, and government applications.
