AMAX Launches Highest-Density GPGPU Server Solution on the Market Today

Optimized for Extreme Performance and Flexibility Required by the Most Demanding Supercomputing Applications

Fremont, CA – November 8, 2010. AMAX, a leading HPC solutions innovator, today announced the availability of the ServMax AS-5160G GPGPU HPC solution for large scale supercomputing deployments. Combined with a ServMax AS-3160G, an advanced 3U 16GPU cluster building block, and two 1U Intel™ or AMD™ host systems, the ServMax AS-5160G is the highest-density 5U 16GPU server solution on the market today. The AS-5160G is optimized for the extreme performance and flexibility required to drive the most demanding supercomputing applications in oil and gas exploration, financial modeling, weather forecasting, real-time rendering and scientific and engineering research.

Based on NVIDIA’s CUDA™ GPU architecture, the new AS-5160G rounds out the portfolio of AMAX’s GPGPU high performance computing solutions that give researchers, engineers and scientists the most powerful computing tools on the market to generate large-scale breakthroughs and bring innovations to life. The system was designed to concentrate tremendous computing power in a simple, scalable format that brings high-availability with redundant components. It features an unprecedented level of ease of serviceability with front-loaded hot-pluggable GPU modules and high-manageability with built-in IPMI.

In terms of performance, the AS-5160G delivers 16.48 teraflops of single precision performance in a single chassis and features ECC memory for uncompromised accuracy and scalability. When compared to other competing GPGPU solutions, the AS-5160G delivers 25% greater density, 31% lighter weight, and 11% fewer racks and switches. The AS-5160G expands on the innovative AMAX ServMax Server Series to give customers maximum flexibility in how they build and scale data center infrastructures, whether their needs revolve around the highest possible density, fastest performance or best power efficiency.
