ION Computer Systems announces the release of I2X2 Server, based on the Intel® Server Platform SR870BH2.

ION’s I2X2 is a 2U (1.75”) rack mount server will support up to two (2) Intel® Itanium® 2 processors. The processors powering these servers are based on the newest Itanium 2 processors that support speeds up to 1.5GHz+ and 6MB of level 3 cache. The I2X2 is also supported by ION’s Configurator, which offers online configuration guidance, pricing and ordering through the World Wide Web.

“By incorporating the Intel server platform SR870BH2 in our I2X2 design, ION has reduced the overall time to market and cost of validating solutions while ensuring that the crucial cooling requirements of these powerful low profile rack mount servers are met,” says Paul Scheremeta, Vice President of Marketing at ION.
