Seanodes unveils Shared Internal Storage (SIS) - a completely new category in the Shared Storage
Posted by Seanodes, Friday April 27 2007 @ 02:31AM EDT

Seanodes unveils SIS - Shared Internal Storage – an indisputable data sharing revolution. Shared Internal Storage allows users to share disks and arrays directly attached to, or embedded in servers as if they were part of an external array. Perfectly adapted to commoditized architectures such as clusters or blade servers because of their potential internal disk capacity, SIS can be implemented alone or as a complement to traditional external storage (SAN or NAS) in order to alleviate their restrictions (performance, capacity, network bandwidth). An ideal solution for High Performance Computing applications (HPC) and Hosted Services infrastructures - considering their extensive use of commoditized servers and their growing need for vast storage capacity - SIS is also the only solution that can equally satisfy their need for high performance storage (bandwidth and I/O). SIS is equally valuable in development & test environments where there is a huge need for simple, low level shared storage but where key decision makers are typically reluctant to invest in expensive, traditional, over-featured, shared storage solutions.

SIS is the concept, Exanodes is the product. Exanodes Standard Edition is a first step into the world of Shared Internal Storage. Reliable, efficient and easy to manage, Exanodes Standard Edition is the perfect complement to SAN and NAS systems in HPC. “Most of our prospects are looking to store data which is subject to a heavy workload on SIS to take the stress off their NAS and SAN systems. HPC cluster users – for example- use SIS to handle all scratch data to avoid investing in high end NAS or SAN subsystems.” stated Christophe Guittenit, CTO and founder of Seanodes. Explaining how revolutionary the SIS concept really is, Frank Gana, Marketing Director of Seanodes, stated “for years NAS and SAN vendors have maintained that application servers’ internal disks are neither convenient nor efficient, legitimizing investments in their external storage. This, however, is no longer the case: we want to let people know that they can forget all they’ve been told about internal disks. With Seanodes’ SIS technology, internal disks can now be used effectively while remaining affordable.” Up until now, Seanodes has been operating in stealth mode. The SIS concept and Exanodes – the first SIS solution available on the market – are the culmination of three years of steady research and development. After several months of beta testing with industrial partners and national research labs, Exanodes has now been officially released.

About Seanodes

Inventor of the Shared Internal Storage concept (SIS), Seanodes reveals a ground breaking way to share data. Exanodes, its first product, is a genuine revolution in the shared-storage ecosystem as it allows users to share application servers’ internal disks in an effective, convenient and affordable way.

Seanodes received several awards, (including 1st prize in the “5ème Concours National de Création d'Entreprises de Technologies Innovantes” which awards the most promising young innovative French start-up of the year) for its cutting edge patented technology and its ground breaking product – Exanodes.
